This document summarizes a study compiling information on ant species found in the Caatinga biome of northeastern Brazil. The authors compiled data from field surveys conducted in Bahia state, samples preserved in a laboratory, and literature records. In total, they documented 11 ant subfamilies, 61 genera, and 173 species (plus one subspecies) found in the Caatinga biome. This represents the first list of ant species for this biome and increases knowledge of biodiversity in this region, which has received less scientific attention than other Brazilian biomes.
