An&nbsp;adventure story for&nbsp;7–9 year olds of&nbsp;a small girl called Lauren walking with her&nbsp;dog above a Scottish loch. Her&nbsp;dog digs for&nbsp;rabbits but&nbsp;discovers a secret passage which leads down to&nbsp;a hideaway. In&nbsp;the hideaway, she&nbsp;meets the&nbsp;last of&nbsp;the Freshwater Nautili who&nbsp;tell her&nbsp;of&nbsp;the Loch Ness monster and&nbsp;where she&nbsp;can meet it. On&nbsp;meeting the&nbsp;monster – he&nbsp;really is&nbsp;a gentle, mischievous creature though somewhat enormous – they decide to&nbsp;teach a&nbsp;couple of&nbsp;locals a&nbsp;lesson: two&nbsp;lads had&nbsp;been ripping money off&nbsp;tourists telling tales of&nbsp;having seen the&nbsp;monster without actually having seen it&nbsp;and organising trips to&nbsp;view it. They were in&nbsp;for a&nbsp;total surprise when they did&nbsp;actually see&nbsp;it&nbsp;– and&nbsp;with a&nbsp;little girl riding on&nbsp;its head!
