This document presents a study on formulating an approximate mathematical model to predict student performance in a subject. The study identifies 25 independent variables that may impact a student's marks, including variables related to the student (e.g. attendance, enthusiasm), teacher (e.g. experience, teaching aids used), and classroom environment (e.g. seating angles). Data on these variables is collected from an engineering college classroom. A multi-variable regression analysis will be performed to formulate the mathematical model relating the variables to student marks. The model will then be optimized and its reliability estimated. The goal is to create a tool that can help teachers and students identify factors to improve performance.
