This document discusses a study that evaluated the public health information system infrastructure for rural inhabitants in Balasore District, India. It provides background on rural health and factors that influence health status. There are three levels of rural healthcare: primary, secondary, and tertiary. The study examined the suitability of health communication infrastructures to meet user needs and determined priorities for core capabilities and health information system strategies needed for public health communication in rural areas. A questionnaire was used to collect data on the public health information system.
