This document is a thesis submitted by Anastasia Wanjiru Maina in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a Master of Education degree from Kenyatta University. The thesis examines the influence of competence in practical skills on students' performance in biology practicals in secondary schools in Kiambu County, Kenya. It includes chapters on the background of the problem, literature review, methodology, results and discussion. The methodology chapter describes the research design, variables, sample selection, instruments including questionnaires and observation schedules, pilot study, data collection and analysis procedures. The results and discussion chapter presents findings on students' competence in procedure, execution, observation and interpretation skills in biology practicals.
