This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Industrial and Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Expert Systems, IEA/AIE 2008, held in Wroclaw, Poland, in June 2008.  The 75 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 302 submissions.
