This document summarizes a research paper about a new technique called PSMPA (Patient Self-Controllable and Multi-Level Privacy-Preserving Cooperative Authentication) for distributed m-healthcare cloud computing systems. PSMPA allows patients to authorize physicians at different authorization levels and control access to their personal health information. It realizes three levels of security and privacy by using an access tree and attribute-based designated verifier signatures. Physicians at different authorization levels can decrypt health information and verify patient identities depending on their attribute sets and the access tree. Formal security analysis shows the scheme can resist attacks while improving efficiency over previous methods.
