This document discusses systems thinking and relationship management in supply chains. It makes three key points:

1) Supply chain management has evolved from focusing solely on internal operations to recognizing the importance of relationships between firms in the supply chain. Effective relationship management can improve information sharing and decision-making. 

2) Systems modeling has been used to optimize operations but limited by a lack of reliable cross-firm data. Relationship building between firms can reduce uncertainties and improve data availability.

3) Relationship management in supply chains occurs at four levels - internal, dyadic, beyond immediate partners, and within the entire network. Most research focuses on within-firm relationships but environmental factors also influence whole-chain performance.
