The essays in this book examine the role of history and memory in shaping the transnational Huguenot diaspora. They explore the impact of Huguenot ?©migr?©s on the societies in which they settled and in particular the way that Huguenot history, and collective memory of that history, shaped the relationships between the Huguenots and their host communities. The essays show how a Huguenot identity was preserved, re-shaped, and manipulated, both by the descendants of the original Huguenots and among the broader communities in which they settled.
