This document discusses the role of information technology in higher education based on a study of undergraduate student perspectives and the authors' teaching experiences. The key findings are that students strongly agree that computer labs, personal computers, internet access, and instructors using IT tools in lectures are necessary for successful education. Distance learning is growing but also has weaknesses like less socialization and requiring more support. The document concludes with a case study of the University of Central Florida's major distance learning program.
