The document is a thesis submitted by Sharmini A/P S. Rama Krishnan to the University of Sains Malaysia in 2007 on the role of media relations in corporate public relations practice. It studies 15 public listed companies in the Klang Valley. 

The study found that in the companies studied, media relations plays a strategic role in building relationships with the media in addition to informing and educating stakeholders to better manage organizational reputation and profile. As such, the function of media relations is not limited to generating publicity for organizational products and services. Firstly, media relations objectives in organizations are set and functions are planned in line with corporate goals and competitiveness.
